  • 18 holes, par 72, 6,721 yards. Links.

The Old Course at St Andrews is world renowned as the home of golf and rightly so, with golf first being played on this outstanding public links course 600 years ago. The Old Course has truly stood the test of time and still challenges the top golfers of today but what else is to be expected from celebrated golf architects such as Old Tom Morris and Alister MacKenzie. The club and course at St Andrews are steeped in history and heritage and is hosting its 29th Open Championship in 2015, which is certainly testament to how outstanding St Andrews golf really is.

The golf course itself starts in the charming, ancient town of St Andrews and features all the mainstays of traditional links golf; wide undulating fairways, hidden pot bunkers and large double greens. All 18 holes promise to be a truly memorable experience but none more so than the 17th or Road Hole, which runs adjacent to a road and offers one of the most famous approach shots in golf. Additionally, the 14th is an awesome challenge and the aptly named ‘Hell’ bunker on the 14th is a 10 foot deep sand trap that should definitely be avoided at all costs.

Playing the Old Course at St Andrews is an exceptional and almost unrivalled experience and definitely has to be on any golfers programme whilst on a golf vacation to Scotland – There is no better time to book your golf vacation, with guaranteed tee times, it is sure to be a round of a lifetime.
