  • Punta Espada – 18 holes, par 72, 7,396 yards

Situated in Cap Cana, Dominican Republic, Punta Espada is the second ranked course on the island, as well as the second ranked course in the Caribbean. With eight holes playing over and along the sea, it’s easy to see why this course has, at one point or another, been touted as the “#1 golf course in the Caribbean and Mexico” by Golfweek and the “#76 ranked course in the world” via Golf Digest. Visitors at the nearby Cap Cana and Punta Cana resorts have the luxury of enjoying preferential access to this breathtaking links.

Punta Espada, since opening its doors in November of 2006, has received an abundance of praise for both its stunning views and course layout. Jack Nicklaus, the famed golfer and course designer, left his lasting impression on the Caribbean with this meticulous and detailed creation, crafting a 7,396-yard beauty that has played host numerous times to the Cap Cana Championship of the Champions Tour. Incorporating the natural coastal topography such as cliffs, beach, and lagoons into its design, he was successfully able to intertwine challenging golf holes and jaw dropping beauty in this par 72 layout.

Often referred to as the signature hole, the 13th, a 250-yard par three, demands a gallant carry over the Caribbean Sea to a green seemingly perched alone on the edge of the island. The par-5 second is largely regarded as the toughest hole on the course, and stretches out to whopping 611 yards. Played from one of the highest points on the property, the hole doglegs right past a tidal lake and beach bunker just lurking to claim any wayward and feeble shots. If the sharp contrast between the emerald green fairways and the turquoise blue of the Caribbean Sea is not captivating enough, this mammoth test so early on is sure to the tone for the rest of your round.
