The Links, designed and renovated by Pete Dye himself, is a beautiful inland course at Casa de Campo. Though it might lack the stunning seaside holes of the Teeth of the Dog and the wonderful river views of Dye Fore, it does offer something both those courses do not: a links golf feel in the Caribbean. Using his influences from Scotland and the “home of golf,” Pete Dye designed and created a course that optimizes pot bunkers, wide yet undulating fairways, and doglegs aplenty to create a fun and leisurely golfing experience.

Casa de Campo revealed the first of its world-class courses when Pete Dye’s Teeth of the Dog layout opened its doors back in 1971. Shortly thereafter, he followed suit with the inauguration of The Links’ 18 – hole layout. This rolling hills track has unique traits and characteristics that help it stand out from its seaside siblings; bahia and guinea grass natural areas, pot bunkers, waste areas, lagoons and smaller lakes were all carefully and strategically placed to impact the unwary.

As you make your way through the front nine (5, 6, 7, and 9 in particular), you’ll find massive waste bunkers awaiting all errant shots. Coming home, however, these bunkers were exchanged for lakes and smaller lagoons to make the closing nine that much more penal. Following extensive renovations to the greens, tees, bunkers, and irrigations system in 2012, The Links reopened with improved conditions, making this slice of the British Isles a fantastic supporting character for its tougher, more widely publicized siblings.
