  • 18 holes. par 70. 6,211 yards. Links.

Brora Golf Club was founded as a 9 hole course in 1891 but this superb links course has hardly changed since a redesign by James Braid in 1923. It is fair to say that Brora is as traditional as they come and features a number of the qualities you would expect from a classic links layout. Although it may not be as well-known as its nearby counterparts, it’s certainly a hidden gem that deserves to be discovered when on a golf vacation to Scotland.

The surroundings and backdrop at Brora Golf Course are simply stunning and there are not many courses that can match the amount of holes that play so close to the sea. At just 6,211 yards Brora may not be the longest challenge but small greens and lack of shelter from the sea breeze ensure that the course will test all abilities of golfer. There are numerous memorable holes at Brora but the par three 9th or ‘Sea Hole’ offers fantastic views and a tough shot with the adjacent North Sea very much in play. Overall, a visit to Brora Golf Club whilst on a golf vacation to Scotland will definitely not disappoint.
